At Howie’s and Alexander’s Prime Meats, we want to be a part of your program of health
With all the conversation about the Coronavirus, we never hear the leaders of our country, or other organizations, speak of health; how to keep ourselves and our immune systems strong and protected as much as possible by eating properly and taking targeted vitamins.
Fortifying our immune systems with exercise is another piece of the puzzle, giving your body the tools, it needs if you were to get sick.
Among its other health benefits, Vitamin A plays an essential role in maintaining healthy immune function.
Here are a few suggestions to add Vitamin A to your diet, all available in our store:
Beef Liver, Cod Liver Oil, Goat Cheese, Butter, Cheddar, Camembert
Vegetables High in Vitamin A
Vitamin A is fat soluble. Use extra virgin olive oil or butter when cooking these vegetables.
Sweet Potato (cooked), Winter Squash (cooked), Kale (cooked), Collards (cooked), Carrot (cooked), Sweet Red Pepper, Swiss Chard (raw), Spinach (raw), Romaine Lettuce (raw)
To add extra nutrients to all your food, use Alexander’s house made bone broths instead of water. Beef and chicken broths are available in our frozen food section.
Fruits High in Vitamin A
Mango, Cantaloupe, Pink or Red Grapefruit, Watermelon, Papaya and Apricot
Not only are these foods good for you, they’re also delicious.
