Avocados | How to Ripen & Enjoy!

Avocados have always been a favorite of the produce section. They are high in fact which is a "good" fat that helps lower bad cholesterol as long as you eat them in moderations. These green beauties can be eaten by themselves, add to a salad or a sandwich and they make great dips. Avocados are also the main ingredient in guacamole which is a staple in tacos!

Green avocados could take 4 to 5 days to ripen. To speed up the ripening process, put them in a paper bag along with an apple or a banana. When the outside skins are black or dark purple and yield to gentle pressure, they're ready to eat or refrigerate.

Here at Howie's Market, we do our own ripening so that you can guarantee a ripe avocado at all times. We make our own guacamole with genuine avocados which we prepare with our own house made guacamole seasoning mix, which is available should you wish to prepare your own Guac at home, as well.

We have some great recipes involving avocados & guacamole over on our Pinterest page!
